On Saturday, North Side fell to the Lady Bulldogs and in the title game Everman defeated Trimble Tech 10-7. “The girls have worked pretty hard,” Everman coach John Tinker said. “I thought we played well. We made some mistakes fielding but we hit the ball well. We wanted to be undefeated going into the Joshua game. We just want to compete in district.” Center fielder Dora Diaz drew praise from Tinker for robbing several Trimble Tech hitters of extra base hits with her speed. Diaz along with third baseman Kasi Dougherty, pitcher Rosa Morquecho and shortstop Teresa Davila all were named to the all-tournament team. Dougherty collected four extra bases hits over the weekend including a home run. The Lady Bulldogs open District 8-4A play tonight hosting Joshua. They then play at Mineral Wells on Friday and at Fort Worth Paschal Saturday. Everman returns to district play Tuesday hosting Mansfield Timberview. |
