| Time for connecting with our neighbors (Posted 10/1/2009 11:33 am) Folks in these parts are well known for hunting birds, ducks, deer and just about anything else which can be hunted. Have you ever heard of people knowingly and intentionally going out and hunting up their neighbors and friends? Now, I 'm not talking about toting a gun with you, when you go looking for those varmints, but it is still a good time to enjoy the cooler weather and get around visiting with people you know and maybe even meet a few people you never seen in your life. The City of Everman has declared open season on neighbors and, to make it easier, Everman's National Night Out celebration is going to take place from 6 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, at the Everman City Hall Annex, located across the street from Everman City Hall. What better time for all of us to get together so we can visit and let the criminal element know we have joined forces to show them we aren't ready to turn the city over to them yet? There will be food, fun, prizes, a great band for your entertainment,(Elvis will be in the house, too.) and activities for the young folks. Best of all, this is a free event, sponsored by the City of Everman. Everman's brand new fire engine will be on display, along with ambulances and police cars. Our K-9 will be on hand to do demonstrations, tactical officers will be available to visit and the Everman Fire Support group will be there as well. National Night Out is celebrated all across the state on this evening to allow people to get together with others and just have a grand time. I hope everybody will attend this event and — if it is a successful time — we will make it bigger and better next year. Make plans now to attend this fun-filled evening. Have a safe week!
